art 2 .. 4 drawings
”tree in a landscaPe”
For this drawing I chose to draw my tree in the fall season. Leaves surround the tree with a bush & smaller trees in the back. I also added a bird house with vines spiraling up it & a little bird in the tree.
”animal”
For this drawing I decided to draw a wild cat sitting next to a large flower.
”street scene”
For my street scene I drew a little “downtown” area with a couple businesses leading into a tunnel down the road.
”hand”
I chose to make a shape out of my own hand and draw what I saw. I added my long acrylics to the drawing as well.
4 ShadeD Shapes
This is my Cone Shaped shaded drawing. I used a 4B pencil.
This is my Cube Shaped drawing. I used a 4B pencil.
This is my Sphere shaped drawing. I used a 4B pencil.
This is my cylinder shaped drawing. I used a 4B pencil to shade.

STILL LIFE SHADING PIECE
This piece took me a total of about 4-5 hours. I love using graphite to make art. Shading is very interesting for me to do because I like to take my time and make sure things look the way I want them to.
self evaluation
1. I balanced the space around the objects that I drew based on the original picture. I drew a line down the middle of the photo horizontally & vertically, then did the same on my large piece of paper that I was going to creat my art on. This helped me place the objects in my drawing the same as they are in the photo. I believe that it is a successful composition.
2. I believe that I made a medium range of values. I could have made a better range of white to black by looking more at the shadows that are present in the photo. I feel like I have a great range of values for the shading in my art, but more focusing on dark and light, not so much in between. I need to work on my medium values in between white and black.
3. In art 1 we didn’t focus on values with charcoal and pencil shading. We mainly focused on and learned value scales using acrylic paint, and this helped me know how to go from white values to black values. With pencil, it is more on how harsh you press the pencil to create the value shades, and not mixing white or black into your colors to create the values. I had to practice a lot and take my time on the value practices with the shaded shapes and value charts. This helped me use technique in my pencil shadings.
4. In the past before taking an art class, I had used my finger to shade and blend. In art 1 I learned how to blend my shading by using the blending stick. These techniques helped me learn that shading and using value really changes your drawings and artwork into something quite more professional. I focused on the shapes of my objects in the photo and created value and shading around those areas to try and show more of a 3D object.
5. The objects in real life are 3D not 2D. You need to keep this in mind when creating your artwork. You have to look at the texture of the objects in real life and focus on shading and values to create the texture in the artwork.
6. I would take a lot more time with everything in total if I could recreate this piece. If I was creating this on my own time I would take much longer to make sure that it looked realistic and drawn to my liking. Being in a class, we have due dates, and this causes me to have the need to rush to complete it.
